Rodney Scout Reservation is located on over 900 acres of rolling upland woodlands at the head of the Chesapeake Bay and boasts of over a mile of prime Chesapeake Bay waterfront. Rodney has been in continuous operation since 1923. Rodney is located in Cecil County, Maryland, only a short drive from Interstate 95 and Maryland Route 40 near the town of North East.
Step back in time at Gettysburg National Military Park, the site of one of the most important battles of the Civil War. Scouts can walk the historic battlefield, explore monuments and memorials, and learn how the events of 1863 shaped our nation’s history. With miles of trails, engaging ranger programs, and opportunities for reflection and discovery, Gettysburg is a place where history comes alive and leadership, courage, and service are remembered.
Begin your trip camping at Hemlock Acres Campground, set on 150 wooded acres in central Pennsylvania. With tent and group sites, cabins, a pool, and nearby hiking and fishing, it’s a great spot for Scouts to enjoy the outdoors.
Then head to Refreshing Mountain Retreat & Adventure Center, where Scouts can experience zip-lines, ropes courses, climbing walls, and a wildlife center—all designed for fun, teamwork, and adventure in a beautiful woodland setting.
Chester County Council’s Camp Horseshoe offers one of the last seven day traditional Scouts BSA summer resident camp programs in the country. With over 40+ merit badge choices, a stellar first-year program, computer lab, STEM offerings, a multitude of SIP’s as well as older-Scout program opportunities including COPE, mountain biking and Independent Merit Badge Studies, Camp Horseshoe has something for every Scout.
